What are the 12 Houses?
In Vedic astrology, the birth chart is divided into 12 houses (bhavas), each governing specific areas of life. The houses are counted from the Ascendant (Lagna) and rotate counter-clockwise. Planets placed in different houses influence those life areas based on their nature and strength.

Dusthana Houses (Malefic) - 6, 8, 12
Houses of difficulty. Planets here face challenges but can overcome obstacles.
Upachaya Houses (Growth) - 3, 6, 10, 11
Houses of improvement. Malefics do well here. Results improve over time.
