Yoga Definition (Astrology)
Yoga (Sanskrit: योग, "union/combination") in astrology refers to specific planetary combinations that produce particular results. Unlike the physical practice, astrological Yogas are formed by planets' positions, aspects, and house lordships. There are hundreds of Yogas - from highly auspicious Raja Yoga (royalty) to challenging Daridra Yoga (poverty).
Important Yogas
Raja Yoga (Royal Combination)
Formed when Kendra (1,4,7,10) and Trikona (1,5,9) lords combine. Brings power, authority, and success. Multiple variations exist.
Dhana Yoga (Wealth Combination)
Lords of 1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th, 11th houses connecting. Indicates wealth accumulation and financial prosperity.
Gaja Kesari Yoga
Jupiter in Kendra from Moon. One of the most auspicious yogas - brings fame, intelligence, and good fortune.
Budhaditya Yoga
Sun and Mercury conjunction. Enhances intelligence, communication skills, and analytical abilities.
Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas
Five great person yogas: Ruchaka (Mars), Bhadra (Mercury), Hamsa (Jupiter), Malavya (Venus), Sasa (Saturn) - formed when planet is in own/exalted sign in Kendra.
