A Kundli (also called Janam Kundli or Birth Chart) is an astrological chart that maps the position of celestial bodies at the exact moment of your birth. It shows the placement of 9 planets (Navagraha) in 12 houses and 12 zodiac signs. This chart is used to analyze personality traits, life events, career, relationships, and more.

A Kundli is your complete birth chart showing all planetary positions, while a horoscope typically refers to predictions based on your Sun sign or Moon sign. Kundli provides detailed analysis, whereas horoscope gives general forecasts for a time period.

You need three things: 1) Date of birth (day, month, year), 2) Time of birth (as accurate as possible), and 3) Place of birth (city/town). The time of birth is crucial as it determines your Ascendant (Lagna) and house placements.

Birth time determines your Ascendant (Lagna) which changes every 2 hours. An incorrect time can place planets in wrong houses, leading to inaccurate predictions. Even a difference of a few minutes can change the Moon's Nakshatra pada.

The 12 houses represent different life areas: 1st (Self), 2nd (Wealth), 3rd (Siblings), 4th (Mother/Home), 5th (Children/Education), 6th (Enemies/Health), 7th (Marriage), 8th (Longevity), 9th (Fortune), 10th (Career), 11th (Gains), 12th (Losses/Liberation).

Lagna is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth time. It's the starting point of your Kundli and represents your physical body, personality, and how others perceive you. Lagna changes every 2 hours, making birth time crucial.

The Navagraha are: Sun (Surya), Moon (Chandra), Mars (Mangal), Mercury (Budh), Jupiter (Guru), Venus (Shukra), Saturn (Shani), Rahu (North Node), and Ketu (South Node). Each planet governs specific aspects of life.

Kundli shows tendencies and possibilities based on planetary positions. It indicates favorable and challenging periods (dashas), but outcomes also depend on karma, free will, and remedies. It's a guide, not a fixed destiny.
