Kundli Matching FAQ

Kundli matching (Gun Milan) compares two birth charts to assess marriage compatibility. The traditional Ashtakoota system checks 8 aspects (36 points total): Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (3), Bhakoot (7), Nadi (8).

Traditionally, 18+ points out of 36 is considered acceptable. Above 25 is good, above 30 is excellent. However, points alone don't tell the full story - Mangal Dosha, Bhakoot Dosha, and Nadi Dosha must be checked separately.

It's a personal choice based on beliefs. Many successful marriages exist without matching, and some matched marriages face difficulties. Kundli matching is one tool - communication, respect, and compatibility of values matter equally.

Low scores don't doom a marriage. Check for dosha cancellations, analyze both charts for individual strengths, and consult an experienced astrologer. Many couples with low Gun Milan scores have happy marriages.

Bhakoot Dosha occurs with certain Moon sign combinations (like 2-12, 5-9, 6-8 positions). It's believed to affect finances and health. However, it gets cancelled if the Moon sign lords are friends or if other positive factors exist.

Gana represents temperament: Deva (divine/gentle), Manushya (human/moderate), Rakshasa (demon/aggressive). Same Gana is best; Deva-Manushya is acceptable; Deva-Rakshasa may cause conflicts. But this is just 3 of 36 points.

Yoni represents physical and sexual compatibility through 14 animal symbols. Each Nakshatra has an animal yoni. Same or friendly animal yonis score well. Enemy yonis (like Cat-Rat) may indicate physical compatibility issues.

Astrology can indicate relationship challenges (afflicted 7th house, malefic influences) but can't definitively predict divorce. Free will, effort, and circumstances play major roles. Challenging placements can be overcome with awareness.

Love marriages have specific combinations: 5th house (romance) connecting with 7th house (marriage), Venus-Mars connections, Rahu's influence. Kundli matching can still be done for love marriages to understand potential challenges.

Don't make decisions based solely on Kundli. Consider the person's character, your compatibility, family support, and practical factors. Use astrology as guidance, not absolute truth. Many 'mismatched' charts lead to happy marriages.
