Nakshatras FAQ

Nakshatras are 27 lunar mansions or star constellations through which the Moon travels. Each Nakshatra spans 13°20' of the zodiac. Your birth Nakshatra is determined by the Moon's position at birth and influences personality, compatibility, and naming.

The Moon's exact position at your birth time determines your Nakshatra. The Moon spends roughly 1 day in each Nakshatra. Accurate birth time is essential as the Moon can change Nakshatras multiple times in a day.

Each Nakshatra is divided into 4 Padas (quarters) of 3°20' each. The Pada determines the starting letter for naming and connects to a specific Navamsa. Your Pada depends on the Moon's exact degree within the Nakshatra.

Each Nakshatra Pada has specific starting sounds considered auspicious. Using these sounds for naming is believed to harmonize the child's energy with their birth constellation, bringing good fortune and aligning with cosmic vibrations.

Each Nakshatra has unique qualities; none is universally 'best.' Rohini, Pushya, and Ashwini are traditionally considered favorable. Mool, Ashlesha, and Jyeshtha are called 'Gandanta' and need specific rituals. True assessment requires full chart analysis.

Nakshatra compatibility (Tara, Yoni, Gana matching) assesses relationship potential. It considers star friendship, animal compatibility, and temperament. This is part of traditional Kundli matching and helps identify natural affinities or challenges.
