Tithi Definition
Tithi (Sanskrit: तिथि) is the lunar day in the Hindu calendar, determined by the angular distance between Sun and Moon. Each Tithi spans 12 degrees of Moon-Sun separation. There are 30 Tithis in a lunar month: 15 in Shukla Paksha (waxing) from New Moon to Full Moon, and 15 in Krishna Paksha (waning) from Full Moon to New Moon.

Auspicious Tithis
- Ekadashi (11th) - Fasting and spiritual practices
- Purnima (Full Moon) - Auspicious for Satyanarayan Puja, donations
- Amavasya (New Moon) - Ancestral worship, Shradh
- Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami - Generally favorable for new beginnings
