GrahaGuru policy

Refund and Cancellation Policy

The short version

Digital items are delivered the instant you pay, so they are not refundable once delivered or consumed.

We do not refund by choice. We refund where Indian law, an app store's own rules, a court or a consumer commission requires it, and where we failed to deliver. Where we must refund a wallet balance, we return the unspent paid portion only.

We always refund when we failed: money taken and nothing delivered, a duplicate charge, or a physical product that arrived damaged, wrong or not as described.

Bonus and promotional credit is never refundable. Only paid, unconsumed balance is ever considered.

Find your purchase first

Different purchases are handled by different people. Start here.

The Astro wallet, Shop store credit and a Mall transaction are separate records on separate planes. Value, eligibility, a refund or a transaction on one surface does not create or change value, eligibility, a refund or a transaction on another, and a balance shown on one surface is not proof of a balance on another.

  • Bought inside the Android app: Google Play took the payment. Request the refund from Google Play.
  • Bought inside the iPhone app: Apple took the payment. Request the refund from Apple using Report a Problem.
  • Bought on grahaguru.in: we took the payment through our gateway. Write to [email protected].
  • A physical product from GrahaGuru Shop or GrahaGuru Mall: see the Shop Commerce, Shipping, Returns and Warranty Policy, which has its own return window.

Digital purchases are non-refundable once delivered

Questions, question packs, bundles, readings, horoscopes, palm, tarot, numerology and dream interpretations, personalised reports, PDF reports and voice minutes are digital content delivered immediately on payment.

Once the item has been delivered to your account, or consumed, it is not refundable. A question you asked, a reading you opened, a report we generated and a voice minute you used cannot be returned.

This is expressly permitted under rule 6(6) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, which lets a seller decline a refund where the goods or services are of a nature that makes them unsuitable for return, provided the policy is stated in advance. This page is that advance statement.

This does not apply to a duplicate charge, failed delivery, unauthorized transaction, material reproducible defect, or another non-waivable right. Those are always refunded, and they are listed below.

Wallet balance

A wallet top-up is delivered the moment the balance appears in your account, and the top-up itself is not refundable.

A top-up is a single-purpose voucher. Every service the balance can buy carries the same rate of tax, so under section 12(4)(a) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 the top-up itself is the taxable supply. We issue you a GST tax invoice at the top-up. You do not get a further invoice each time you spend the balance, because the tax was already charged and invoiced when you topped up.

Paid balance and bonus balance are tracked separately. Bonus, promotional, referral, streak, free-tier and internally credited balance has no cash value, is never refundable, is never withdrawable, and is spent before paid balance. If you top up 500 rupees and receive 100 rupees of bonus, only the paid 500 rupees is ever in scope, and only the part you have not spent.

Bonus and promotional credit expires 365 days after we add it, unless the offer it came from states a shorter period, in which case that offer's period applies. Free-tier and daily allowances expire on the shorter schedule stated where they are granted. Paid balance does not expire while your account is open and in good standing.

Bonus, free, promotional, referral and internally credited balance never appears on a GST invoice or a GST credit note. You paid nothing for it and no supply was made for it, so there is no tax to charge and none to reverse.

We do not refund by choice. Where Indian law, an app store's own rules, a court, a consumer commission or a regulator requires us to refund a wallet balance, we refund the unconsumed paid portion only, to the original payment method, and we issue a GST credit note against the original top-up invoice under section 34 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Bonus balance on the account lapses at the same time.

Balance cannot be withdrawn as cash, transferred to another person, or moved off GrahaGuru.

If we close your account for a breach of the Terms, unconsumed balance is forfeited to the extent Indian law allows. If you close your own account, unconsumed paid balance is dealt with under this policy and bonus balance lapses.

Subscriptions

Cancel any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you are already in is not refunded and your access runs to the end of it.

There is no cooling-off window on digital content. Delivery begins the moment you place the order, so we do not operate a 48-hour or any other voluntary cancellation window on a question, a pack, a bundle, a reading, a report, voice minutes, a wallet top-up or a subscription period. Your statutory rights are unaffected and are set out below.

A subscription bought on this website renews automatically under a Reserve Bank of India e-mandate taken through Razorpay, our payment gateway. We show you the plan amount and the renewal interval before you authorise it, and you authorise the mandate once with additional factor authentication. Razorpay then sends you a pre-debit notification at least 24 hours before each renewal charge. You can cancel at any time, from your account page or by writing to [email protected], and your access runs to the end of the cycle you have already paid for.

Where a charge was taken under an e-mandate without the pre-debit notification required by the Reserve Bank of India framework for recurring transactions, we refund it in full.

A subscription is one entitlement across this website and the GrahaGuru apps. Whichever surface you bought it on, it works on all of them, so you never need to buy it twice. A subscription bought inside the Android or iPhone app is billed by the store, and the store's own terms and refund rules govern that purchase.

When we always refund

These are your rights, not a favour, and we honour them without argument.

  • Money was taken and nothing was delivered: we deliver it, or we refund it in full.
  • You were charged twice for the same thing: the duplicate is refunded in full.
  • A service failure on our side made the item unusable, and we could not fix it.
  • A physical product arrived damaged, defective, wrong, incomplete, expired or materially different from what was shown, under rule 6(5) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
  • A charge was unauthorised and we agree it was unauthorised.
  • The law requires a refund in your specific case.
  • A court, a consumer commission or a regulator has ordered a refund.
  • An app store's own rules require the purchase you made through it to be refunded.
  • Nothing on this page excludes a remedy required for defective, deficient, spurious, late, not-as-described, or undelivered goods or services.

What we do not refund

Where we choose to do something for you beyond what this policy requires, we do it as GrahaGuru wallet credit, never as money returned to a card or a bank account. That credit is bonus credit: it has no cash value, it is not refundable, and it is not an entitlement or a precedent.

  • A question, reading, report or voice minute that was delivered, whether or not you liked the answer.
  • Dissatisfaction with an astrological prediction, or a prediction that did not come true. Astrology content is guidance, not a promised outcome.
  • Bonus, promotional, referral or goodwill credit, in any circumstance.
  • A purchase you made by mistake but have already consumed.
  • A subscription period you have already used.
  • A change of mind about digital content that has been delivered.
  • A wallet top-up, except the unconsumed paid portion where the law, a store's rules, a court or a consumer commission requires it.
  • A change of mind at any point after you order a digital item or a subscription period. There is no 48-hour or other goodwill window.

How to ask

Write to [email protected] with your registered email or phone number, the date, the amount, and the order, invoice or store transaction reference. Screenshots help.

We acknowledge within 24 hours. We decide and reply within 15 days, in line with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

Where the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 apply, support acknowledges the complaint within 48 hours and redresses it within one month. Those are the outer statutory limits; the timings above are what we aim for.

An approved refund goes back to the original payment method within 5 to 7 working days after we release it. Your bank or the store may take longer to show it.

Where a refund reduces a taxable supply we already invoiced, we issue a GST credit note under section 34 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and reverse the tax on it.

Chargebacks

Please talk to us before raising a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback freezes the account while the bank investigates and slows the outcome down for you.

Where a chargeback is raised on a purchase that was delivered, we will contest it with the delivery evidence, and we may suspend the account and reverse the balance or entitlement the purchase granted.

A chargeback can trigger a proportionate fraud review, but making a good-faith complaint does not by itself forfeit unrelated balance or statutory rights.

If you disagree with us

Escalate to the Grievance Officer named in the Grievance and Consumer Complaint Policy.

You can also use the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, the e-Daakhil portal, or the consumer forum where you live under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Nothing on this page removes a statutory right.
